It’s late afternoon as I walk on the beach ...
Unencumbered

It's late afternoon as I walk on the beach.
All of my problems are still within reach.
Slowly I become aware of a sound;
waves rushing up and tattooing the ground.

I'm not sure what happened. I'm not a prude.
I throw off my clothes and I'm standing there nude.
I walk into the water. It's warm and inviting
as it welcomes me in - its embrace so exciting.

Drifting, I float in the ensuing illusion.
The sky and the water, in total confusion,
become as one as I enjoy the motion;
gently rocked in the arms of mother ocean.

The water has washed all my cares away
and the sun warms my heart. The clouds display
all my dreams in such detail I've not seen before.
Then reality strikes - I wash up on the shore.

I stand in the surf and my gaze returns
to the waves, which the sun now silently burns,
but I know that I have been given a gift:
a reminder of love and my spirits lift.

My worries are fewer. They've been outnumbered
by blessings discovered. I'm now unencumbered.
