Some inspirational quotations.
I like to read quotations from the old wisdom. I think some of you in Writers. com, too and I find the Writers. com could be an ideal place to exchange ideas on same. Hence I wish to extract and quote below, some of those golden sayings, I have read in " ONE THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL THINGS" chosen from life and literature of the world, by ARTHUR MEE, for your reading pleasure and for us to exchange what each one has read on the same topics.

GOOD-BYE

There is a word, of Grief the sounding token,
There is a word bejewelled with bright tears,
The saddest word fond lips have ever spoken,
A little word that breaks the chain of years;
Its utterance must ever bring emotion,
The memories it crystals cannot die,
Tis known in every land, on every ocean:
It is Good-bye.

Father, We Thank Thee

For flowers that bloom about our feet,
For tender grass, so fresh and sweet,
For songs of birds and hum of bee,
For all things fair we hear and see,
Father in heaven, we thank thee !
The Pleasures that remain
(Emerson)

The pleasures of the senses pass quickly; those of the heart become sorrows ; but
those of the mind are ever with us, even to the end of our journey. (Spanish Proverb)

Friends
It is my joy to find
At every turning of the road
The strong arm of a comrade kind
To help me onward with my load.
And since I have no gold to give,
And love alone must make amends,
My only prayer is, while I live:
God make me worthy of my friends !
(Frank Dempster Sherman)

Across the fields of Yesterday

Across the fields of yesterday
He sometimes come to me,
A little lad just back from play,
The lad I used to be.

And yet he smiles so wistfully
Once he has crept within;
I wonder if he hopes to see
The man I might have been.
(Thomes S. Jones)
