I find a little flower growing in my garden, I'm reminded of our love
My Little Flower

I saw a beautiful little flower today,
Growing from the ground in a very unusual way.
Its petals held hints of blue, that looked like hands of a clock,
It was struggling to grow full size, between two large rocks.

It had grown in a crack, on the side of one of them.
Then turned up to face the sun, but seemed almost crushed when,
A third rock had rolled down the hill, and hit the other with such power,
But a small branch stood in its way, sparing my little flower.

I wanted to pluck it from the ground and give it to my love,
It had a few spiny thorns, I’d have to wear a glove.
Yet when I came back it stood taller than before,
I was reminded of our love, how I love you more and more.

It had grown in that location despite tremendous odds,
Survived the harsh seasons, was it saved by the grace of God?
Again I thought of our love, and the challenges we had met,
And through it all we’d persevered, and that I would never forget.

Instead of plucking it, I dug it carefully from the ground,
Put it in a planters pot, set on a shelf, now safe and sound.
I thought of you My Love, how I’d taken you as my mate,
And wanted you home with me, for it was getting late.

My thoughts were interrupted as you ran through the door,
Threw yourself into my arms, knocking me to the floor.
You kissed me over and over, whispering three words so true,
I finally freed myself, and showed you my flower with petals blue.

Your smile was all I needed, to know I’d found a special treasure,
You ooh’d and aah’d over it, your eyes full of pleasure.
It’s funny how sometimes in life, simple things matter so,
Like loving you is natural, it’s the best life I could know.
