Man-made Misery

Evolution replaced with breeding
and inbreeding weakens the wealthy
who buy artificial lives and steal the natural
leaving the strong to wither and die
in their isolation of crowded filth
fed from the fount of the fortunate
by furrows of fetid earth.

Survival is not for the fittest
but fought over and bought
by and with the many enslaved
to the few who brought wrath
and wrought corruption upon the masses.

Trees’ plots staked out
restrained to a square
so they won’t fight for sunlight
and every one will survive
while flocks of fat fowl
picked for their ineptitude
are bred en masse to be slain
before ever having lived.

Their useless legs crumple
and their gargantuan bodies
block out the sun for species
starving mighty hunters
until they’re led to extinction
all the while we’re being fed.

I beg you look closer
at this wonderful mess:
where ethics are forgotten
and power is best;
where freedom is fought
and fiefdoms admired;
where nothing appears bad
and good is skin deep
under it you will find the rot
still everything lives
but we all live in misery.
