This is the first poem I wrote, 12 yrs ago, free flowing verse
Vanishing  Love

I woke suddenly in the middle of the night.
My heart pounding, blood racing
I wasn’t sure what had woken me,
but I was sure a strange noise had occurred

Rubbing my eyes,  I looked around my room,
and noticed the cool breeze,
blowing through the open window,
the sheer drapes billowing softly, silently.

Suddenly, I noticed you standing there so beautiful
the smell of sweet jasmine in the night air.
Your night gown flowing, arms held out to me
your face radiant in the moon’s soft glow

“My Love!” I cried, or tried to,
but no sound came from my throat
I tried to reach to you, but my arms remained immobile.
Moving to sit up, I found myself seemingly paralyzed
All I could do was stare at you mutely,
Love showing in my eyes.

You whispered my name softly,
Your eyes beseeching me to come to you
Your hands reaching out to hold me near
Try as I did, I couldn’t say your name
Or move to you

Slowly,,,,,,
Silently,,,,,
Sadly,,,,,
you faded, becoming first transparent
then invisible altogether,
until all that remained,
was the sweet jasmine on the air

I cried in great heaving sobs
Wanting you so
Needing you, aching for you
knowing we needed each other
Our love never to be extinguished

I awoke suddenly, tears on my pillow,
And rolled over to find you beside me
I hugged you tightly to me,
Sobbing once again

“Don’t ever leave me my love,
Stay here with me, love me”
You looked at me quizzically,
Then kissed my tears away.
“I Love You more than life itself,
I’m never leaving your side.”

Your words brought overwhelming joy to my heart
I looked to the heaven,
And thanked God once again for bringing you to me
