They say the world stopped to watch. Thousands of people simply stopped what they were doing and looked up. They say you could see the bombs, small balls of light moving across the sky. Some people watched the lights grow smaller and prayed for those it would affect. Others watched as the lights grew bigger and tried to run.
A lot of people died that day. Even more became… different.
We called them Genetics and at first they were heroes. Survivors. Something to be pitied because through human malice their lives were changed into something that could never be fixed. White skin, black hair and silver rings around the iris were the physical symptoms. Inside, too, was changed – a few more cells then they should have.
They built lives – had kids. Half Gens born to one Genetic parent, one normal. Pures were born to two Genetics. But slowly, over time, pity turned to fear and fear grew into hate.
The Pures… we were something new.
