Power Rangers Star Squadron Episode 1:3

Rebecca takes Evan's morpher and runs over to her computer, hoping to reprogram it in 30 seconds. The five teens stand, staring at each other. Each of them, in turn, nods their heads. They grab the five Key Cards off the table. Brie, Matthew, Emily and Logan all grab their morphers, and Evan walks up behind Rebecca and grabs his morpher off the table. Rebecca catches this out of the corner of her eye.

REBECCA
Wait, w-what are you doing?

EVAN
You said these things are powerful enough to stop those guys, and we're the only ones who can use them. This seems like a no-brainer.

REBECCA
Yeah, but WAIT!

They don't listen, and take off outside.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE WATCHTOWER. - CONTINUOUS

They run outside and see the Rock Beetle for the first time. It's a scarab-looking creature. He's been leveling nearby buildings and collecting the rubble by a spinning metal disk in his abdomen. He then takes that rubble and creates large boulders, which he unleashes to cause more terror and mayhem.

EVAN
Hey, ugly!

The Rock Beetle turns, and sees the five standing, facing him.

EVAN
Back off!

ROCK BEETLE
    (Laughing)
You think that the five of you can stop me?

None of the teens answer, they simply place the key cards in the morphers. They slam them close, and they begin the morphing sequence.

FADE IN: MORPHING SEQUENCE

The morphing sequence occurs on a very blank background. Each ranger stands, bathed from the neck down in white light. The logo on the chest of their costume glows with golden lights. They launch into the air, spinning rapidly. Two Ranger-colored ribbons of energy surround them, and when they land on the ground, the energy shatters, leaving the ranger outfit behind. A glowing version of the animal emblem on the side of their helmet forms, stamps on the side of their head, and the helmet forms around their head.

They stand, and pose.

ROCK BEETLE
My, how pretty and colorful. Drones, attack!!!

REBECCA
(Her voice comes from almost out of nowhere.)
Rangers, attention.

MATTHEW
Hey, how are you doing that?

CUT TO:

INT. THE WATCHTOWER. - CONTINUOUS

I've been trying to decode the information I scanned off of Emily's morpher. I managed to break into the frequency of the communication signal. Listen, you have access to incredibly powerful weapons. There are more key cards in your belt buckles. Try the Star Squadron Blasters.

CUT TO:

EXT. OUTSIDE THE WATCHTOWER - CONTINUOUS

Cut to the Rangers, opening the buckles, and grabbing their Blaster Key Cards. They place the Key Cards into the morphers and slam them shut. The five headers then fly out of their morphers. They float around the air for a few seconds, then the Rangers grab the headers out of the air, and place them on the front of their sidearm blasters.

(Each Ranger puts their weapon in front of them in the camera frame as they shout.)

EMILY
Tiger Blaster!

LOGAN
Shark Blaster!

EVAN
Dragon Blaster!

MATTHEW
Snake Blaster!

BRIE
Phoenix Blaster!

They each leap into action. Each ranger gets a scene of taking out a sizable number of Drones, and each showing the strength of their blasters.

Soon after they finish off the drones, they reassemble, and turn to find the Rock Beetle coming at them, riding a giant boulder of shrapnel.

EVAN
All together now, guys!

They all aim their blasters at the boulder, and fire. The boulder shatters, and the Rock Beetle lands to the ground, hunks of rock raining down around him.

ROCK BEETLE
Oh, you're gonna regret that.

He prepares to attack again, the shredder in his stomach begins to spin again. He sends flaming pieces of shrapnel flying at the rangers. The easily bat the pieces of shrapnel out of the air with their blasters.

EVAN
Let's see what else we've got!

They grab their weapon cards, and activate them in the morphers. Again, the weapons emerge directly in front of them. Yellow has a claw, Blue a crossbow, Red a sword, Black an axe, and Pink a blaster.

The Rock Beetle is not impressed, he mounts another attack, this time two orbs of energy he hurls at the Rangers. Red and Pink fly out of the explosion, Pink carrying Red, and firing her blaster at the same time. As she brings him closer, he slashes with his sword.

Yellow and Black aren't far behind. Yellow slides along the ground, deflecting laser blasts, while Black flips through the air, bringing his axe down on the Rock Beetle. Yellow then follows up, running through him with her claw. Blue then finishes, flipping over the Beetle's head, raining down blasts on the Beetle.

The Rangers assemble on the opposite side of the Beetle.

EVAN
Let's finish this now. Bring them together.

The put the five weapons together, forming a large blaster all five of them must hold. They each place a key card in a slot on the top of their respective weapons.

ALL RANGERS
          FIRE!

A beam of gold energy in the shape of the logos on the front of their costumes emerges, and flies directly into the Rock Beetle. It knocks the Rock Beetle off its feet, it flies into the air, and disappears in a fiery crash. The rangers turn around, and do the typical pose.

INT. THE WATCHTOWER - AFTERNOON

The Rangers are sitting back in the Watchtower immediately after the battle, chatting excitedly. Rebecca walks in.

REBECCA
Congratulations, guys. You did good today.

BRIE
Aww, we just got lucky, is all.

REBECCA
No, earned it. But I have to warn you, it won't be this easy all the time. Like I said, they're only going to get stronger as time goes on. I've been decoding the info from the morphers, and they seem to have a lot more power than we've seen so far, but it'll take time to figure it out. I've figured out how to remove the bond between you and the morphers. If any of you want to back out, just speak up now.

All five Rangers hesitate for a second, then Evan stands up.

EVAN
I'm not going anywhere.

Brie follows him, and stands beside him

BRIE
You can count me in.

Matthews stands behind Brie.

MATTHEW
I'm not that easy to get rid of.

Emily stands on Evan's other side.

EMILY
This is too big to just give up.

Logan walks up and stands beside Emily.

LOGAN
I'm not leaving.

Rebecca stands, smiling at the five of them. She's surprised, but mostly proud.

REBECCA
Well, I can't say I'm surprised. The morphers tend to make good judgment calls.

LOGAN
What, do you mean the morphers chose us?

REBECCA
Not exactly, but most people tend to run away from the sound of a large crash. You ran toward it. You put yourselves at risk because you were more concerned with the well-being of others. That's the mark of a true hero, and only a hero would find those morphers after a crash.

EVAN
Awww, I think I'm starting to blush.

Everyone laughs.

REBECCA
Well, there's still one matter we need to take care of.

EMILY
What is it?

REBECCA
Every team of Rangers has a name. You guys need to make one.

MATTHEW
Well, these powers came from another planet, so something with alien or space or galaxy.

BRIE
Stars.

MATTHEW
Huh?

BRIE
Stars.

EVAN
I like it. What else? Star Force? Star Power?

LOGAN
Star Squadron.
(Everyone just looks at him.)
I don't know. It just sounds right.

All five of them agree.

REBECCA
OK, it's settled. You will be referred to hereafter as the Power Rangers Star Squadron.

The five stand proudly, enjoying the name. The frame freezes and the credits roll.
