This is more of a vignette i guess
Her delicate touch sent a ripple of chills through my body. The butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I've never felt this way about anyone before. It was the first time we had seen each other away from the pressures of society, away from everything. We lay there under a giant oak tree for hours watching as the clouds disappeared into the night and and the warmth of the summer still radiated off of the ground. The grass was soft and the air was rich. Birds were singing and the grasshoppers were chirping in the distance. I rolled onto my side and looked her in the eyes. She looked into mine. No words were spoken but a lot was said. If only I could tell her how I truly feel, that I knew from the very beginning that I loved her. She was the first person I had ever loved.

As we walked home I brushed my hand against hers too afraid to hold her hand. She took my hand in hers and looked at me with a faint smile. I didn't want this night to end, it was too perfect. We said our goodbyes and parted ways. Had I known that this would be the last time I'd ever talk to her I would probably have poured my heart out and told her everything. Instead I walked away and didn't look back, knowing had I turned around she would not be there.  Change is the worst enemy of happiness and time is the greatest cure for pain. It's a shame that life is short and full of change. Maybe over time when memories fade I can once again be happy but until then I'll lie awake into the last hours of the night thinking of what could have been and what never was.
