I remember that day when
I sat beside your bed.
I kept talking love to you,
You kept silent instead.
You could only shake your head
To show that you had heard.
Faculty of speech was gone,
You could not speak a word.
Then you suddenly hiccupped
And the weak breath faltered.
Your pulse I felt, it was gone.
You had your life bartered.
I cried inside though outside
I had to act but brave.
Those moments, etched in my
Heart, I just could not save.
