I wrote this a few days after 9/11.
Does victory belong this day
To he who from afar applies
By means so dastardly and dark
The hand of fear upon the free

And with a spattering of fire
Inflames our courage, faith, and ire
And leads us to exclaim en masse
"We shall not faint nor fail this day!"

The cry goes forth to every land
On native soil and foreign sand
To warn all those who freedom hate
To wait for retribution's song

Our Ship has weathered storms before
Both vanity and gale of war
The mast is firm, the sails are full
A worthy captain has the helm

The shot heard round the world resounds
And roars defiance to the foe.
