Prologue to the Novel "A Sojourner In Hell" written by Love's Vendetta (Jordan Coffey)
Prologue

“I could never stop loving you,” Kim said as she told Damon all he ever needed to hear. He kissed his wife, and she began scurrying around the house, cleaning up the used paint materials before they turned in for the night. Before he helped her clean up their latest project (a remodeled basement), he took a moment to admire her. That sweet, beautiful embodiment of joy, whom he had considered life’s greatest pleasure to hold in his arms, was not only Damon’s greatest inspiration, but his best friend. The intimacy they shared left no area of joy or weakness untouched. He loved Kim like no one else ever did or ever could.

Damon and Kim finished  washing the paint off of their skin in the sink by the kitchen window. Looking at the moon through the glass, Kim kissed her husband, and beckoned him to play the piano so she could sing a song that they had written together. Damon had always claimed that Kim sang more beautifully than any angel in Heaven, which Kim typically countered by saying that Damon played piano like a god.

Their constant edifying of each other, coupled with Damon’s optimism kept them, most of the time, in high spirits. Together they lived in the Forest of Nyst, a two hour journey from Hope Village. Their three-story home that Damon had built barely peaked above the trees of Nyst’s tall birch trees. Even before their marriage, Kim begged her swordsman lover to always protect her.  She sometimes made it a habit of asking Damon if she would always be safe with him.

And with this, he’d always reply…

“I’d go to hell and back to keep you safe.”
