The truth emerges as we age, the veil that hides our souls thin. Miracles can happen.
My heart was pounding and I felt a tightness forming in my chest and my throat.  I was at work, trying to finish  the last draft of my marketing report for my boss, Joshua.  Random, scared thoughts flashed through my brain.  Heart attack, was the first one.  But, I need to finish the report first, there was no way a simple heart attack was going to ruin my perfect work record!  My left arm was fine, no numbness or tingling.  I thought,  this is how that poor astronaut in the movie Alien felt, right before the alien popped out of his chest.  I took deep breaths and pushed back my curly black hair.  I wasn't sweating, my palms were dry, but it still felt like something was trying to leave my body.

Suddenly, I felt it, a slow shiver rolling up my spine, spreading to my breasts, my neck and then to my scalp.  I closed my eyes and breathed deeply, letting the feeling envelope me.  Today, for some reason, I was being brave.  Before when this same feeling came upon me, I would deliberately distract myself--grab a sip of water, start focusing on something to read, anything to distract me from the feeling.  I think I was tired and just wanted to know what this all meant.  I wanted to know what this feeling meant.  Warmth settled over my skin, like a comfortable blanket.  The ache in my heart eased and a voice whispered to me, "Peace."

I slowly opened my eyes, not sure what I would see.  I looked down at my arms. My body glowed as if lit up from within, not bright and glaring but soft and nurturing.  Another light, more of a brilliant gold color slowly coalesced to my left.  It swirled and elongated until it was near the height of my office door.  It seemed like all the sounds around me quieted, the radio was no longer playing soft rock in the background. The hum of the airconditioner was silenced.  This was definitely weird, not your average office occurrence.

I slowly exhaled, just realizing I was holding my breath  while watching the golden glowing light.  The golden light began to solidify and as it did the warm glow about me seemed to pull towards it.  My skin felt like it wanted to detach itself from my body.  The golden light seemed to slowly collapse upon itself until in its place stood a man.  But, as I really looked at him, I realized he was more than just a man.  His form was graceful, beautiful, shoulders wide with just enough muscle, tapering down to slim hips. His face was riveting, eyes of darkest black, firm mouth with the barest hint of a smile, and nose slightly flaring.  His hair was also black with brown highlights, it fell in waves, loosely to his collar.

Oh, my God.  I must have died and now here was my soul mate, waiting to take me to heaven!  Then my heart began pounding, the sound was so loud I'm sure the Mr. Perfect standing before me must have heard it.
