                                                          Chapter 1: The Storm


Streaks of light danced across a blackened night sky, thunder sounded like cannons being discharged. It was indeed one of the worst storms to hit the small town of Tice in quite some time. While the wind howled like an injured wolf, torrential rain pounded relentlessly against anything that stood in it`s path. Despite all of this one young boy was oblivious to it all, engaged deeply within a dream.
Zack found himself standing in the center of a tranquil forest. He could see several trees through a light purple haze, but something was different about them. On the end of the many branches, where he expected to see leaves, hung crystals filled with colored light. On one branch they were blue, fading into a light shade of green. On a different branch the crystals were red, transcending into a pinkish hue.
Astonished at what he was seeing he decided to venture closer towards them.
Upon taking his first step he was in awe at what had occurred. Looking down he saw a ripple emerge from underneath his foot, it reminded him of stepping in a puddle of water. He bent down to feel the ground, to his surprise it was as hard as a rock. Zack was now more bewildered than he had ever been in his short life.
