The Girl with eyes that could not See

THE GIRL WITH EYES THAT COULD NOT SEE

Parents note:
The Children in orphanages moves many of us. Orphanages are a way of providing for their care and housing. Orphanage is the name to describe a home for children whose parents are deceased or otherwise unable to care for them.

My name is Amy and my mummy’s name is Katherine.
My mummy and I went walking one day on very clear blue sky and beautiful sunny morning. I looked up at the sky and I could feel the rays of the sun on my face.
As we were slowly passing along the road we came across an orphanage, we stopped for a moment to watch the children play. A little girl was standing by the gate alone and looking lonely. My mummy and I got closer;
I asked her what her name was she said it was Melissa. “My name Is Amy “ I said “and this is my mummy,” but she never looked up to look at my mummy. “Why are you not playing with the other children why are you standing here by yourself?
She turned around with eyes that could not see and then she began to cry. Oh please don’t cry” I said. “I feel just like a flower growing wild in the mist of the jungle. I have no mummy to kiss me or hold me when I cry and I have no daddy’s smile” said Amy
Amy continued: Before my mummy and daddy went away and left me here to stay mummy gave me these five pennies she said they will make my dreams come true.

Each penny has a story would you like to hear it. “Yes please Amy said”

Melissa started

Penny 1. This little penny is to wish on and make all my wishes come true
Penny 2. This little penny is to dream on and dream of all I can do
Penny 3 This penny is a dancing penny see how it glitters and it glows
Penny 4. This little penny is to laugh on and that tears never fall
Penny 5. This little penny is the last little penny and most important of all for this penny is to love on and where love is heaven is there

When people come here to take  a child to take and care for as their own I’m always left behind. I know they like to take me and make me their own but when they see I’m blind they always take some other child and I’m left behind.

Sometimes it gets so lonely I pray that I could die and I  will walk the streets of heaven where eyes are not to see and just like all the other kids in heaven there will be a home for me

My mummy said it was getting late and we must start walking back home. I said bye to Melissa and mummy and I made our way back home

I looked at my mummy and “Oh how happy I am to have a mummy and a daddy who loves me and care for me.
The next day when mummy said it’s time to go for a walk I asked her if we could go back and see Melissa again Mummy said it was ok. We got to the orphanage, and Melissa wasn’t there.

I started to wonder what happened and I turned around to mum and said” where could she be.’ Mummy could see I was troubled so Mum called the Nun who lives in the orphanage and was watching over the other children play  and then asked her where is Melissa is; is she sick what happened to her.

The Nun looked at us with a face that looked confused and lost and then her face turned to the colour of tomatoes.  She looked straight into our face and said "Melissa left us and went to heaven. She will not be coming back. She said to tell you not to worry about her for now for she had walked the stairway to heaven where all the blind can see and now she will be home with other children.

Tears came to my eyes and with a mind of wonder I thought to myself  Melissa said she wanted to die and so finally she walked the stairway to heaven and now she is at home
