The Exit Interview

I sit naked under the bright hot light of scrutiny, corporate eyes upon me,
Surrounded by middle aged fat cats and fatter kittens,
Egos almost as large as their Gucci purses, waistlines, asses and wallets
The truth is what they say they seek and they need to talk with me?

The proposition is that they may try to learn, it's more to cover their asses
Surrounded by self affirmations and a course of smug conspiracy
Indignant self righteousness and a very bad case of false concern
Truth is what they say they would like and they need to talk with me?

What can we do better is often the opening query, stop the bullshit is my reply
False indignation and a cold dead dog smile as their collective thoughts are gathered
Shields are raised, truth bounces off of them, silently shattering as glass in the vacuum
Truth is where they desire it, lying broken on the thick carpet and they want to talk with me?

Troops gather from all departments, Management, Legal, Human Resources, ready
Why does it suddenly become the focal point when it is already done and broken ?
Ah to cover ones ass and feel good about failure, to continue the charade
Truth is what they say they are looking for and they want to speak with me?

Truth may be a matter of perspective and persuasion in this instance
What is the real agenda that lies underneath the smiles and pleasantries?
Could it be that the light of another life once so bright and promising
Smothered by the body politic and they want to speak with me?

Drowning in rules for the betterment, regulations and self imposed red tape
Subtlety invasive and sinister in the undercurrent that it creates
Another freedom cast aside, an option no more, repressive, regressive
Truth is what they say they want to hear and they want to speak with me?

Common sense, dignity, pride, humanness cast aside like clear empty water bottles
Littering the highways of lives disappointed, discarded hopes and dreams
One at a time laid upon the landfill of broken dreams, hopes and aspirations
Truth is what they say they seek and they want to speak with me?
