Ways that media is used in politics
Cary, M. K. (2010, February 12). 5 Ways new media are changing politics. U.S. News & World Report. Retrieved February 12, 2010, from http://www.usnews.com/opinion/slideshows/5-ways-new-media-are-changing-politics/...

Topic-Media and Politics- Politics has been using media to run their campaigns since the creation of the U.S. Types of media include pamphlets, bulk mail, email, web pages, blogs, text messaging, television commercials, radio commercials, bulletin boards, etc.

Summary:

Who: This article talk about many people including The American Red Cross, Dan Pfeiffer, The White House, Facebook, Sarah Palin, John McCain, Ron Paul, Barack Obama, and Scott Brown.

What: This article provides five ways that media is changing how politicians run their campaign. People are using technology to choose what they want to watch and hear, such as Tivo, Facebook, and twitter. Candidates such as Sarah Palin, John McCain, Ron Paul, and Barack Obama have used these technological advances in their campaign, as well as text messaging.

Where: This article is about the use of media technology in campaigns run in the United States.

When: The article is an accumulation of the use of media technology over the past ten years.

Why: The use of media technology is reaching a new audience. The candidates use this technology because it is instant and it is to a mass audience.

My reaction: I did not know that The White House was on Facebook. I was excited and became a fan. I knew how much was raised online by the candidates, but I did not know that President Obama announced his campaign online or that he text messaged his choice for vice president. I guess that is one way to make something a small issue. I think that media does reach more people at once, but it makes the entire process of watching a candidate run for office impersonal.
