Love and Loss - saying goodbye
The air is stilled, tonight, all draws to an end
I’m still wondering how it comes from time to time
That you come full circle, lose pretend

Somewhere there, amidst the summer haze, and the scent of cigar
Your arrival stopped me in my tracks
Like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car

I could see we shared similar dreams
From the lighthouse in December
I’m perhaps a little more vulnerable to these

I wasn’t always like this, watching the horizon as it fades
Thinking that I’m sure we’ve met before
Another time, another place, and it always ends the same

Distance travelled brings to mind
The joy of such a character of the wild
Since this fire, another flame will be hard to find

But there’s a world out there, and perhaps more than I know
Needs me now, to give in and to let go
In your heart, I know you’re already half way home

I guess there’s never a good time for goodbye
In earnest, suffering rhyme with leaving
In all the seasons, such is life, an eternal return

I hope, on your journey, you find what you’re looking for
Peace of mind, a place to build the rest of your life
And maybe one day, we’ll meet once more

Pass in the street, or raise our glasses to the past
Dance around the idea of years gone by
Wonder, again, at how our time has gone so fast

I presume this is the beauty of this life
The many ships you pass in the night
And the ones that remind you there is more to this world than
the dark and the light.
