Learning how to compromise was never so much fun. Flash fiction entry.
“Do you see that fine piece of man?” Jessica panted, practically licking her lips as she devoured him with her eyes.
I rolled my eyes, cursing the fate that randomly assigned her as my partner, “Look, we need to finish this by Monday and we don’t have a conclusion.”
She leaned back in the seat, crossing her satiny legs, letting her skirt ride up her thighs. She started tracing her cup with one finger, a coy smile on her lips, “Tell you what. Let’s make this a game.”
“Oh God help me,” I muttered, pinching the bridge of my nose over my glasses. I had already ended up doing most of the work on this project due to her sexcapades. Enough was enough. “Fine, what’s your game?”
“I knew you’d see reason,” she murmured, full lips pursing to sip her cappuccino, “First one to get his digits wins. Loser writes the conclusion.”
I looked at her, a sexpot with a 4.0 GPA and designer clothes. I looked down at the hoodie I had thrown over my batman pajamas. I hadn’t even showered yet. I studied the businessman still waiting at the corner. I smiled slowly, “Deal.”
I grabbed my cup and strode over to the counter where the suit was waiting for his order. I smiled sweetly at the barista as I handed her my cup, “Refill please.” As I turned, I gasped, “Omigosh, is that the new Orson Scott Card novel? I didn’t know it was out yet!”
He looked up, smiling, “Yeah, it is.”
“I already know what you’re going to say, but what do you think of Ender’s Game?”
Like any good fanboy, his face lit up. Five minutes later, I walked back to the table with a number, a date, and an evening free of homework.
