Something I wrote off a feeling.
Swirl her around in your head. Swirl her around on a staircase too high too climb, but you’re already on top, somehow. Dance with her, so she floats on the dream you promise so ardently. Graceful, uplifting, romantic, you sway through sweet air. Hold her face so gently that you could be no less than sweet, that she could do no more then quiver. Stare at her with all the understanding that she will ever need and lift her higher than she’d ever give you permission to take her. Waltz through her doubts and twirl her round her misgivings.

You don’t need the moon. You have the golden light of a hundred chandeliers that glitter elegance upon the landing you have claimed for the night. Dark wood rails wind up and down around you as gowns swish round a polished floor. Dark suits rigid with grace upholding. Wine and chatter and esteem. And above it all, look down and see so many just as happy as you. Take her by the arm and lead her down, be her gentleman. Show her off. Let the glances make her feel beautiful. Tell her they’re justified and make her world. Impress her with your wit, your charm. Socialize and be. Be you, be her, be we, all in good time. Her delight is making her cheeks glow. Then amidst a crowd, amidst the world’s romance and embittered hearts, extend her your hand and dance her to the end of love.

And I fall for you. Unabashedly.
