This is a poem I wrote and gave to someone who changed my life |
In the darkness I found the brightest light, She shines like a golden beam across the water. Every night the elements test her harshly, Regardless she glows and shows me the way. The daylight forces her to fade and dim, She must then play another role in her life. By day her glow is similar to others, She blends seamlessly amoung the crowds. Its only in the absolute black hours, That she truely radiates over the restless. Nevertheless,if a grey cloud blocked the sun at any moment, I know like a lion her immense strength would guide me. However, its almost impossible to look directly at the light, Her extreme brightness is blinding, dazzling and deceiving. Most will never notice or question what lies behind, But behind every light there is an area of darkness. A form of beauty more raw, pure and hidden, Wires that are horribly rusted with experience. Some damage so severe its almost irreversible, But still not one wire torn or detached. Everything remains intact, reliable and flawless, An amazing light, just invincible. When I think back to my lonely midnight strolls, Wadig blindly through the darkness alone. Dangerous and wreckless but indifferent, Arrogantly avoiding the well-lit areas. It makes me eternally grateful for my new light, Like a little ray of hope it sooths me. The light is like a beautiful tube in my ears, Strummed effortlessly on a wee ukillayly. But now I feel its her time to rest, She has worked vigorously through the nights. Also beaming for others and helping them along, Let me take some of the load. Rest your head upon my shoulder, Grasp my hand and hold it tight. Together we're a team, Let's make it through the night. |
