Inspiration

It grows within my heart
from a very small flame
it burns ever so softly
with my gentle loving aim

I have to keep it going
the light that wants to shine
my logic tries to shut it down
but I hear the voice of the divine

It asks me to see past the smoke
the mirrors that make it unreal
the daily grind of unimportance
the life that is not my ideal

I ask for some inspiration
those signs that lift my soul
the power to look past the mundane
to the things that make me whole

I see it in the clouds
the sun, the moon, the sky
the goddess who holds me gently
the people on the street passing by

The absolute right words
at the most perfect time
I felt the burden lift and float
that moment was just sublime

So my inspiration appeared
and my heart finally became light
I realized as my eyes opened
that everything was going to be alright
