Jasonboat rescues some local VIPs
The Harbour Master looked very pleased with himself today. Jason Boat watched him slide a clean, white shiny new boat down the slipway and into the harbour. The new boat then came alongside Jason Boat.

“Wow,” said Jason Boat, “She looks fantastic.”
The nice new shiny boat looked Jason Boat up and down. “Huh” he said, “She is a He actually.” The boat said in a very posh voice.
“Meet Sir Richard.” Said the Harbour Master. “He’s here to help you and work alongside you.”
“Hello,” said Jason Boat. He greeted him with a smile.
“Well, I shall leave you two to get to know each other.” With that, the Harbour Master went back to his office.

“I’m indestructable, don’t you know.” Said Sir Richard.
“Oh.” Replied Jason Boat.
“And I’m made of the very latest materials and have the very latest engine on board which makes me one of the fastest and most agile boats there is.”
“That’s smashing.“ said Jason Boat, trying not to be rude
“I see you’re made out of wood. How very quaint.” Sir Richard said with a derisory giggle. “Did you know, I’m able to carry more passengers and a greater load than you, and still travel at a greater speed than you.”
Jason began to get rather annoyed, and decided not to say anything else.

Sir Richard was telling Jason Boat in greater detail all about how onderful he was when the Harbour Master came up to the harbour wall.
“Well I hope you two are getting on.” He said.
“Well, one tries to.” Said Sir Richard.
“We have some rather important passengers over on the island, and they need bringing back. It’s the Mayor, the Lady Mayoress and some other members of the town council. It may take a few trips but if you two can bring them back that would be just wonderful.”
Without a thought for anything else, Sir Richard started his engine and shot across the water at great speed. Jason Boat turned round and chugged out to to heading for the island.

By the time Jason Boat was halfway across Sir Richard passed him carrying all the luggage.
“You look pathetic you slow coach.” He roared with laughter, and splashed Jason Boat on his way past him.
Jason Boat scowled back at him and carried on towards the island.
By the time Jason Boat had arrived, Sir Richard had arrived a the same time.

“All aboard.” Called Jason Boat.
“If you would be so kind Your Worships. I’m quite sure you would prefer to get back to twon as quickly and as comfortable as possible.” Said Sir Richard. The Mayor and Lady Mayoress climbed on board Sir Richard.
“You can take the riff-raff.” Scowled Sir Richard to Jason.
Sir Richard turned round and zoomed back towards the harbour with his two very important passengers on board.
The sea was a little choppier than usual so Jason Boat decided to take his time. After all, he didn’t want to get his passengers upset. It took Jason Boat some time to get back to the safety of the harbour, and when he arrived Sir Richard wasn’t to be seen.
“He’s probably all warm and cosy in the bat house.” Thought Jason Boat.

As the passengers got onto the harbour side they urned to Jason Boat and tanked him for such a safe and careful journey.
“I hope you didn’t get too wet.” He said.
“Not at all.” They replied, and they waved Jason Boat goodbye.

Just as Jason Boat was going to head off to the boat house, the Harbour Master came over to see him.
“Everything alright?” the Harbour Master asked.
“Yes. Fine.” Said Jason Boat. “I’m sorry I took so long, but my engine isn’t as powerful as Sir Richard’s. And I’m afraid I could only make one trip, whereas Sir Richard managed to make two in that time.”
Jason Boat looked a little sad.

“Ah yes, Sir Richard.” Said the Harbour Master.
“I suppose he’ll be replacing me then.” Asked Jason Boat.
“Absolutely not. “replied the Harbour Master.
“Oh, why? He’s faster, and more agile than me, and he’s indestructible, and he can carry greater loads than me.”
“He may well be all of those, but there’s one thing he doesn’t have.”
“What’s that?”
“He doesn’t realise the cargo and passengers come first. He was so busy being the fastest across the water that all the luggage arrived here soaking wet. And to make matters worse, so did the Mayor and Mayoress. They were not very happy at all.

Jason Boat looked around to see if he could see Sir Richard. But he was no where to be seen.
“So where is Sir Richard now?” asked Jason.
“I’ve sent him up river and told him not to come back until he has learned a bit of respect.” Said the Harbour Master.
“So he isn’t so wonderful afterall, despite what he thinks of himself.” Laughed Jason.
