Poem in the first person about the listeners interpretation of a stranger's loss.
From far away I hear the cry,
Upon the wind, the sound does lie,
A lover pining for another,
Shattering the twilight sky.

Her pain, her heartache is evident
As I absorb the sounds of her Lament,
To offer your heart, your inner being
Will surely end in deep regret.

The haunting tones of loneliness
Spiral into the dark abyss,
A lingering air of unfathomable sorrow
The sum of a poisoned farewell kiss.

Yet as she weeps into the night
My pensive mind does see the light,
For even though the wounded mourn
The prior beauty must surely delight.

I pray that someday she will see
An end to her restless agony,
As the sun will rise for her broken heart
Thus mending all the scattered parts.

For the life we have is far too short
To waste precious time on encumbering thoughts.
