A child's hope

Pictures form amongst the cracks of the ceiling wall. The bright blue eyes that stare lost their childlike spark long ago. The carry the weight of a thousand burdens that no one should have to bear. A pale hand reaches up. Its transparent surface touches where there used to be hair. It grasps at a near forgotten memory of breezes blowing through golden locks, though it slips away like butter through its tiny fingers. A crystal forms under blue circles of despair. No hope rests sleeping in its depths. It disappeared the day a man in a long cynical white coat came to her room ever some many years ago. The day those pale skinned lips told her the news the hope fled leaving her alone in the world and her mind. She watched alone as people started backing away. Leaving her defenseless against the horrors of the world. Her fragile body remained limp unable to give her hope as she watched her mother walk down the cold tiled hall. As the hips swayed back and forth into a malicious elevator. The jaws snapped shut locking away the hope for good. Tiny lashes weave together over the ocean orbs. Tiny pale lips smile to themselves as the rhythmic beating of the room slows and stops.

A single beep fills the silence. Men and woman in blue and white rush into the tiny room. There is shouting and panic. Sadness and fear fill their many colored eyes. Above it all comes the single note that fills their hearts with pain. The press the cold steel paddles to her chest again and again, trying to call her back to them. But she is gone. She has left the world far behind. No one person other than herself knows where she has gone to. But everyone knows one thing, she has found happiness and with that hope.
