This is just a creative essay i had to write for my history class
To my beloved wife, Anna.

Ah! My first month here in Massachusetts has past, never have I seen such a dull two fortnights pass! When I left you and my dearest sons, David and Michael, to care for my mother, I’m sure none of us had the slightest notion how remote the town of Northamshire could be! There are certainly young people for me to chat with, but they act most un-Christian! Doing nothing but drinking and cursing! I do not believe you need my explaining as to where they will soon be going! However, the real reason which I am writing is to let you know that the dullness has finally ended! A traveling priest from Europe by the name of George Whitfield came to our small little town today, to give a sermon. Now, I am sure, as I would if I were you, that you are frowning down at this letter by this point. I understand how tedious and uninteresting sermons can sometimes be (although they do not seem that way after Northamshire!), but Mr. Whitfield seems to have truly awakened something in me! He has genuinely made me remember our ancestor’s morals in this land! We are on this earth to serve God! He has put us here in His power, and He expects us to abide by the tightest of rules, as he should! I realize now that your mother was right: If we do not practice our Christian beliefs as god wills us to, well, how much better are we than the young men here in Northamshire! Can we really believe that god would spare us, or our children for that matter, from the eternal pain and suffering we have unconsciously proved ourselves worthy of? Of course not!

I am ghastly ashamed of how I have acted in the past years. How can I have forgotten how genuinely important our Lord is to our eternal survival? I end my letter here with my full and undying love, and some advice. While I am away, I wish that you and our sons, and all of our other relatives and friends for that matter, practice our Christianity with a most fervent attitude. Who’s to say that god will not forgive us if we may triumph over our in-pure ways and thoughts? I understand that this may sound as though I am reacting simply out of sheer boredom, and I will allow that maybe I am, but I do not think I am Anna. Mr. Whitfield really spoke to me, and while you may not understand just yet, I do wish for you to trust me. Your husband, who has our children’s best interest at heart, as well as yours, hopes to make a hasty return soon. I am forever yours,
Jasper
