Why must you look me in the eyes as I break you open?
Why must you look me in the eyes as I break you open,
Trying desperately to find myself?
The more I lie to you: the less I hear my heart beating.
Like the drums of war; fading away as I gasp my final breaths,
Lying upon the epiphany of revelations.

It was not always so.
What you found in me was unique; the love which bonds forever.
Yet my naivety surpassed even your greatest pains.
Throwing away promises of hope for words of hatred;
Which I so spitefully hiss at you

As if I was the one who was forsaken.
The fruit was in my hand,
Yet I could never have held that knowledge within me.
Answers to my questions would misguide me further.
For it is only in innocence I will come to know you.
