Why do we long for something we can't have
When we posses something even better?
The pain that we endure, we must be brave
So they don't notice how much we suffer.
We pray for the slightest bit of contact.
"Hello", "Hi", "How are you?", we say.
But we keep away, for they may contract
The disease we harbor, we keep at bay.
This disease called love, a hateful illness.
It consumes, takes over, and eventually kills.
Our defenses shut down, we're left helpless.
Some use blades, others hang, often it's pills.
They don't understand our pain and ask, "why?"
Can't say why this pain forces us to die.
