The bonds are stretched but not broken. (A Rondeau poem)
The three musketeers: Bobby, Tim and me
with bonds like glue for all the world to see.
Without a word being spoken, I knew
they had my back through stormy skies or blue,
while Mom watched “The Guiding Light" on TV.

Ingredients of the glue recipe:
Soap Box Derby, Little League, Jamboree,
and all those bowls of hot mulligan stew
for the three musketeers.

Winking shadows of that past now buoy me.
Too soon, we parted company, you see.
After high school, we had to bid adieu.
We enlisted, and off to war we flew.
Oh, how I wish just once more we could be
the three musketeers!
