A love story that I'm proud to say is about my parents-Billy Gene and Maryann
Billy Gene and Maryann

Platinum hair and green eyes like a dove
Men always said she’d be some catch.
She wasn’t thinking of romantic love
Busy opening the pharmacy door latch.

A dark haired man sauntered in with ease,
Checking her lovely form out in the glass.
He strolled over asking ,“Ma’am, do you fill these?”
Smiling he handed her the physician’s pass.

Lonesome for a sweet hearted girlfriend,
Since he left southern Florida all alone.
She too needed someone to help mend,
Her heartbreak and problems of her own.

He didn’t have much for to offer,
Except deep love that began to bloom.
They left the pharmacy together,
Never separated since that afternoon.

Till the day he lay dying from cancer,
While she stayed right there by his side.
He was glad for the chance to romance her,
And for the time that she was his bride.

Some magic day they’ll be together,
In her convertible baby blue Cadillac.
Holding hands always and forever,
Driving off and not once looking back.

So when people say love doesn’t stay,
I tell them about a woman and man,
Who loved each other every day,
My Parents: Billy Gene and Maryann.

Dedicated to my parents Billy Gene and Maryann Manhart

author's notes:
I was blessed to see the perfect example of how a husband
should treat his wife. Daddy might not have gone to church,
but he lived a godly life. He cherished Mom from the day they
met, until he died praying with my mother. My mom misses him
terribly but she has bravely lived a widow's life for over 20 years now.
She said, "I've had the best, the best any woman could have."

Ephesians 5:33-
Nevertheless, also, let each one of you individually so love his wife
as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep
respect for her husband.

1 Corinthians 13:13-
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
