Bubbles gliding on a summer breeze bring back memories. (Form: Villanelle) |
Reflections ** Image ID #1577918 Unavailable ** Gossamer rainbows shimmer in the light; arcane mystic orbs that pull at my mind bringing bygone visions into my sight. Tenuous memories once more take flight. Released from darkness, no longer confined, gossamer rainbows shimmer in the light. Their hypnotic dance on wind does incite; forgotten sorrows and joys are entwined bringing bygone visions into my sight. Thoughts of you reflect when the world was bright. Solitude's sharp pain was left far behind. Gossamer rainbows shimmer in the light. Slowly the colors fade into the night. Vague wisps of what was begin to rewind bringing bygone visions into my sight. Dark ebony thoughts give way to delight as the beauty in life, once more I find. Gossamer rainbows shimmer in the light bringing bygone visions into my sight. Notes An entry for Challenge 1 (Poetry) - "Invalid Item" Prompt: Image (Red 12) Form: Villanelle The highly structured villanelle is a nineteen-line poem with two repeating rhymes and two refrains. The form is made up of five tercets followed by a quatrain. The first and third lines of the opening tercet are repeated alternately in the last lines of the succeeding stanzas; then in the final stanza, the refrain serves as the poem's two concluding lines. Using capitals for the refrains and lowercase letters for the rhymes, the form could be expressed as: A1 b A2 / a b A1 / a b A2 / a b A1 / a b A2 / a b A1 A2. The villanelle has no established meter, although most nineteenth-century villanelles have used trimeter or tetrameter and most twentieth-century villanelles use pentameter.
