What an empathic astronaut sees from space
I wasn't my idea to take Harmon along as a crew member on our satellite mission to assess the effects of global warming. An unlikely choice, a true geek, he was younger than most of us, somewhat pudgy, disheveled and not at all resembling our fit and efficient running crew of the Al Gorbit.

After achieving the perfect position in space for viewing, we all turned off our controls, released our harnesses and stood to take in the site that few would ever see in their lifetimes. After the initial awe of the moment, we assumed our duties of recording, documenting, measuring , inputting data, fulfilling our orders to the letter.

Why wasn't Harmon doing anything? He seemed transfixed, almost glassy eyed as he focused completely on the Earth. I approached him as he very slowly shifted his gaze to me and explained. "I was sent along to see what parts of our earth needed healing I can see the positive and negative energy from here, places where its strong and others where it needs help. I'm not a good scientist but my heart feels the beat of the earth and what it needs to become whole again". With that, I quietly stepped back from Harmon, letting him finish his work, quickly realizing that even as a seasoned scientist and researcher, I still had a lot to learn.
