Fighter

The instructor said,

    "Go home and write a page tonight,
    And let that page come out of you---
    Then, it will be true."

    With a pencil in her hand,
    And tears forming in her eyes,
    She let herself go.

Lost in this transition
Trying to get it right
It's time for me to grow up
And win this life-long fight

No more running away
No more trying to hide
It's time for me to step up
And let this all subside

I'm letting go of my pain
Won't shed another tear
Push me around all you want
You won't get what you want to hear

There's nothing you can say
To make this girl fall down
Nothing you can do
To knock her to the ground

Gaining strength throughout it all
She no longer needs that knife
To numb her pain, and vanish her fears
She is a fighter
A fighter for life

    Hands shaking, she had written the truth.
