Little Child of God
(Growing The Fruit of the Spirit)

I am a Little Child of God
And so I want to be
Just like Brother Jesus said,
“A light for all to see”

He said that I could take my light
And let it shine for Him
A city on top of a big, big hill,
And my light would not be dim!

How do I let my little Light shine?
How do I let it show?
By letting God’s Spirit live in me
So the Fruit of the Spirit will grow.

Love is easy to give to those
On whom my life depends
But when I love those who are mean to me,
My love turns them into my friends!

Joy is the proof that my faith is strong
The Joy of the Lord makes me sing
No matter what happens or where my path leads
Joy leads me to Jesus, my King 

Peace says, “I don’t have to be afraid!”
I can walk through this door
For it leads to the safety of Jesus’ arms
When storms around me roar
                OR
Peace says, “I don’t have to be afraid!”
When the Father opens a door
For it leads to the safety of Jesus’ arms
When storms around me roar
                  OR
Peace says, “I don’t have to be afraid!”
When storms around me roar
For Jesus will take me safe in His arms
Through the Father’s open door
                OR
Peace says, “I don’t have to be afraid!”
When storms would make me hide
The safest path is where I’ll be
With Jesus as my guide
                OR
Peace says, “I don’t have to be afraid!”
When tempted to fear life’s harms
Protected and safe in the midst of the storm
I’m asleep in Jesus’ arms
       
Patience shows when things don’t go
The way I want them to
And I quietly wait to have my turn
Until after the others are through

Kindness is seen in the little things
That I do when others are near
Like sharing my toys and not playing rough
Or wiping away someone’s tear

Goodness is special because God is good
All the time and in every way
When I act like Him and choose to be good
Godly actions chase bad ones away

Faithfulness  is when I keep my word
‘Cause I know God’s Word is true
Jesus is always faithful to me
So I want to be trustworthy too

Gentleness, known as Meekness sometimes
Means empowered to do many things
Yet choosing to not push my weight around
For humility powers my wings!
                OR
Gentleness, known as Meekness sometimes
Is important to understand
It doesn’t mean people can walk on you/bully you/be mean to you/
But you’re willing to lend a hand 
                OR
Gentleness , known as Meekness sometimes
Is important to understand
It doesn’t let people treat you mean
Yet you offer to lend a hand

Self-Control is the hardest of all / Self-Control, prob'ly the hardest of all   
For a Little Child like me
Tantrums aren’t the way to go
Good behaviour is what you should see
                OR
Self-Control , prob’ly the hardest of all
For a Little Child of God
No tantrums if I want to shine for Him here
Just calming myself with a nod. 
                OR
Self-Control , prob’ly the hardest of all
For a Little Child to see
No tantrums when I don’t get my way
But choosing God’s best for me
                OR
Self-Control , prob’ly the hardest of all
‘Cause I can’t always have my way
Instead of screaming to show I’m not pleased
My good attitude saves the day 
                OR
Self-Control , prob’ly the hardest of all
For I can’t always have my way
But a Little Child of God must choose
The right attiutude which is - to obey.
                OR
Self-Control is the hardest of all
For a Little Child like me
Tantrums aren’t the way to go
Good behaviour is what you should see

So if you see me doing my best
To be a bright light on the hill
Please telling me I’m doing a really good job,
And you know, I probably will!
