Is love real or are we just shackled by illusions? (Form: Terza Rima) |
Chains of Illusion Tethered by longing, temptation controlled, my love's inconstant, my mind running free seeking perfection. It can't be consoled. Driven to wander by false imagery, promises whispered in film and in prose, leaving my heart devoid of constancy. Emotions inundate what the mind knows forcing my heart in a pointless pursuit, drifting sans direction as the wind blows. I stop for a time, 'till the need's acute. Have I loved? Will I love? Questions I ask that echo within. My heart remains mute. Seeking love's answers, I bend to the task aimlessly drifting through each lonely day hiding my anguish behind a bright mask. Promises float, a mirage on display, fading away leaving only dismay. Notes: An entry for "Invalid Item" Prompt: Will I ever love again? Form: Terza Rima ~ is a three-line stanza using chain rhyme in the pattern a-b-a, b-c-b, c-d-c, d-e-d. There is no limit to the number of lines, but poems or sections of poems written in terza rima end with either a single line or couplet repeating the rhyme of the middle line of the final tercet. There is no set rhythm for terza rima, but in English, iambic pentameter is generally preferred. Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise - are all equally welcome. Ken |
