Running, running through the wood
the sun lowering, fading from sight
blinking out of existance
plunged into darkness
the glow of the moonlight
lending the wood an otherworldly feel
another time
another era
the eerie hoot of an owl can be heard
echoing through the vast expanse of trees
Running, Running through the wood
where is the exit?
Home?
where is home?
the leaves rustling beneath my feet
eerie in the still of night
a tree looms ahead of me
towering, reaching into the sky
the bark a pale silvery shimmer
standing out starkly
against the black night
I slowly sit down by the trunk
feeling compelled to stop
to rest
my back falls back against the rough surface of the wood
my feet nestled in the thick foliage
enveloping the ground
a few leaves lie scattered in my hair
I close my eyes
I sleep
