A child's view of being autistic.
You Don't Know Me at All

You think I'm mean, you call me a brat.
You hear me scream, but it's not like that.

You say I don't know how to share.
You blame my parents, and that's not fair.

Throwing tantrums are a part of me,
but there is so much more that you don't see.

You say I'm smart, as smart as can be,
but why can't I just behave properly.

You hear me laugh for no reason at all.
You tell my parents, "There should be someone to call."

I am different you're seeing that now,
but you still just can't figure out how.

You watch me as I sit and spin,
the experts they call this "stim."

You tell your friends, I bounce off the wall,
but you don't know me at all.

You wonder why I am like I am,
they told my mom, "Your child has autism."
