Written for the Tuesday Morning Cantos Class
He offered her a red rose signifying
his love and passion for his Lady of Love.
With a radiant smile lighting up her face
she accepted his token of tender love.
They used to meet regularly in a cove,
where his soft and velvety kisses used to
overwhelm her and discharge a current through
her body that made her badly ache for more.

One day she waited ardently for him to
come but he did not turn up and made her cry.
She waited for him till night came with sparkling
stars and silver moonlight caressed her body.
Her glassy tears did not reach him for he was
far from her, making love to another gal.

As days passed she turned blue pining for his love.
Intoxicating thoughts of his manly smell
tantalized her , and the red rose turned yellow.
Not withstanding the pain she jumped into a
river that drowned her cries and swallowed her grief.
Her kindred found a black rose upon her grave.
