MEN V. HORSES: a sonnet


What’s common between humans and horses,
Besides the fact they do love each other?
I guess even a layman endorses,
To act without will, they do not bother.

You may disagree and may ask me, “why”;
You may say men are educated, wise.
In that case I would give you a reply
That would probably bring you a surprise.

It is well known you may easily take
The horse to a pond but can’t make it drink.
Similarly, let me this statement make:
We can teach but cannot make a man think.

Men want to think and believe only that,
Which agrees with their own mental format.
