A princess plus a golden egg, equals one good fairy tale.

The Golden Egg

Once upon a time, there lived a princess named Marabell. Her Sweet Sixteen was in one week, and she was so excited she couldn’t help herself. It was a family tradition that whenever the princess turned sixteen, she took her mother’s place as the Queen of Halamaras County. As Marabell was told, this was a great honor.

Finally, one week later, Marabell’s birthday had arrived. It was one of the greatest, most extravagant parties anyone had ever attended. There was music, dancing, friends, and gifts. After the party, what seemed like mountains of wrapping paper lay on the floor. Later her mother came in and said there was one more surprise for her. Marabell quickly asked, “Oh…is it one of those new carriages? I hear they now get up to 35 miles per hour!” “No,” her mother answered. “It is something better than a carriage.” Marabell closed her eyes, held out her hands, and waited.

What her mother placed in her hands seemed to be a mystery. It was heavy, smooth, and hard. Marabell opened her eyes and saw what looked like an egg. But wait! It was made of gold! Marabell was so surprised; she ran and hugged her mother. It turned out that the Golden Egg was magic. This egg could transport Marabell anywhere at anytime! But, there was a catch. You can only stay in the transported area for exactly two hours. After that, you had to go back to your town, or a curse would be put on you. The curse was that if two hours went by, and you had not left, than you would be stuck there forever.

Well, even after finding out about the curse, Marabell still couldn’t wait to try out the Golden Egg. She thought for a long time, and finally decided that she would transport herself to Paris, France. She believed that Paris was a wonderful and elegant place, and she desired to visit. Marabell held the egg in her hand, and clearly stated, “Paris, France.” She looked at her watch. It read 7:00 PM. That meant that she needed to return to her home at exactly 9:00 PM. Marabell was right! Paris was exactly how she had imagined. She explored, shopped, and even was invited to a ball. Of course, Marabell accepted. She approached the ball, and figured out that a whole hour had passed already. That meant that she only had one hour at the ball. “Oh well!” Marabell exclaimed. She danced, sang, and had a great time. Fifty-five minutes went by. She had completely run out of time. Marabell said goodbye to all her new friends and gathered her things. All except her Golden Egg! She searched frantically to find her egg. Just as the clock struck 8:59, Marabell found her Golden Egg, placed it in her hand, and yelled “Take me to Halamaras County!” Marabell safely returned to her home and lived happily ever after!
