A religious poem about longing for home! |
A FAR OFF LAND! O, in that far off land for which I long, I seek not a share in gold, nor gems. Though, I have heard that they are common there and that so gracious Is the LORD of that place that of his abundance, all may share. Yet, seek not I such things, in that far off land. O, in that far off land for which I long, I look not for a mansion to be mine. Though, I have heard so good is the LORD of that place, That he has decreed that all who enter his domain, are named as saved. And shall be housed as sons and as daughters of HIS. And that they may place all cares within HIS hands. Yet, I seek no house so grand, in that far off land. O, in that far off land for which I long, I seek not to taste of its sweet, Life giving waters, nor to partake of its endless joys and matchless pleasures. Things denied to my kind, since the fall of man. Yet, I have heard that they are available to all to share in, in that far off land. In that far off land for which I long, I long not for much of anything, Except for peace. And for relief from life’s many, many miseries. And for rest for this my soul, that is wearied beyond words, By my journey to that far off land, for which I long. And, perhaps also for one other thing. That the LORD of that place will, despite my failings, love me And allow me to call that far off land home, forever more. That is what I, in secret, also long for.
