A choppy poem, not one of my best, but still has a decent theme behind it.

Mankind lives in desolation,
Jabbing at all of creation,
Dividing himself in nations
Conquest in his view.
I knew such madness was not right.
I knew it was no use to fight.
I wanted to embrace the night
And run from what was true.

However, then came you, my friend;
To put my hiding to an end.
You helped me face the light and send
My sadness to the grave.
I don't deserve a friend like this!
Oh, how could I have ever missed
This happiness, this state of bliss
Which me from darkness saved?

It's nice to know there's more than one
Who is not hypnotized by sun
Or love or 'the in thing' or fun
Like everybody else.
One can be happy in the rain,
And cold, gray clouds and others' pain
Is fun to share; it's not insane
To think this for yourself.

And so, my friend, it's you I thank
Though now you have joined in the ranks
Of Death- your eyes and face so blank-
I know you can't hear me.
I let my tears and feelings flow
And yet, deep down inside I know
That you will come and I will go
Then joined again we'll be.
