A poem about the way the universe views humanity, and my response to it. |
View of Humanity Glittering, gleaming Shining in the dark Of Night. Looking down on The world Watching the Tired and Hungry, The Well-fed and Wealthy Resting peacefully. They do not know Of the suffering That goes on by Day For then, a lone star, The Sun, Shines away. Her fiery heart breaks As she watches The People Wound one another. Why can't they just Be at peace? She wonders. Only with help Can I shine at Night Thinks the white-lit Moon. My sister, The Sun Must help me Guide others' way. But piece by piece I fade away Leaving only a Shadow, Becoming only A sliver. Scorched by Day, Bathed in glow By Night, My surface varies As much as the life I carry. My insides Pulsate with heat And molten light Hovering just below The surface. My face is scarred By battle By life By People. I am cut and Slashed By Man, And some are Buried within me, Left from war From sickness From age. Some are too young To be gone And I weep with those Who mourn them. I am full of Despair at the Anger above me, The warring People Who fight and die Killing one another Until they are so few That they must stop. And even then, Few remain at peace. Hovering in the air We carry the Anger and the Sorrow Of the Earth, Shedding stormy tears Gentle sobs And little showers Angry light and Booming, echoing Thunder Shouting in the Night Bellowing out Earth's Anger And Sadness At the pain she carries Upon her. Dissipating Only for the Sun To shine. What little joy Does this universe See? Little joy? Ask I. Only a little? Bosh! It can not always be so. I know of many Joyous memories And most are My own. The joys of Love and Laughter and Friendship Must sometimes show through To the Stars The Moon And the Sun. Surely the Earth Must feel my Complete bliss At times. Do not weep so, Dear Universe For sometime Peace will come. |
