To those who have read 'Please Stop the Voices'
I just thought I'd add a little article detailing the reasons, hows, why, whats and whens of my recent post 'Please Stop the Voices'.

First of all, I'm not really happy with the title, but when you have a creative burst (at work I might add) sometimes you just want to get it down onto paper as quickly as possible.

Self-harm has always been a habit of mine, but I didn't start cutting as such until I was about 16. Times were hard for me and the stress had gotten to a point where I couldn't bear it anymore.

I just need to say that any non-self-harmers who may be reading this;

Cutting is RARELY for attention. The vast majority of cutters do so in private, in places that would not be seen by others. This is a common myth; that cutting is attention seeking. If you come into contact with a cutter, don't judge them.

Cutting, or more broadly, self-harm is incredibly addictive. The rush of the pain and the endorphins triggered by harming oneself is a calming measure.

Also, I would like to add that cutters are not necessarily suicidal. Suicidals and cutters are completely in their own categories. Self-harm is a preventative measure, used to stop the emotional pain getting so bad that you become suicidal.

Everybody has their ways of dealing with stress and such feelings. Most people self-harm and don't even realise it. Some people punch walls, some people tear hair, some people scream and shout until their head hurts.

So don't you DARE judge me for my own methods.
