A tragic love story between two best friends. |
[Introduction]
This is probably one of my first times in writing a proper story, so I apologise in advance if its crappy. This isn’t the very beginning of my story, but a story within my greater story. Please read and comment, its just a really rough draft at the current stage. Natasha found it a struggle to come to terms that is their last time together in their shared life, but she put on a brave face. She looked around for him and hoped that he would come to a realization and admit to any feelings he had for her. But she kept a firm hold onto reality while on search for Hayden. There he was, up on the stairs. Hayden was surrounded by friends whom were all saying their goodbyes, Natasha waited below as she did not want to interfere. Hayden wondered where Natasha was; he thought she had been acting erratically when around him lately. Despite her sudden change in behaviour, Hayden did not think it would prevent her from saying goodbye to her best friend. It pained him to leave behind his life in Sydney, but it hurt him even more to leave behind Natasha. He loved her dearly, and he could not imagine beginning a new life without her. However, of late he had begun to view Natasha in a different light, she was still his best friend but also the girl he loves. Though, he heavily contemplated about admitting to his feelings on his last days. He was not entirely sure if Natasha has shared the same feelings, but he knew that she was more than a friend. There she was, standing at the bottom of the stairwell. Hayden looked at her and she looked at him. A part of Natasha died when she had made eye contact with him, as she had to accept that he was going to be starting a new life without her. She found it so unbearable to let him go. Natasha waited and hoped that he would come down to her and have their heart-breaking goodbye. Hayden could not take his eyes off her face; he thought to himself just how beautiful she is. Though, he could not make himself go down the stairs and meet her. He saw the pain in her eyes when he did not meet her, and it hurt him as well. Natasha did not understand why Hayden had failed to come down the stairs, what had she done wrong. She wanted to hold her best friend and love on their last time together in their shared life. She wanted Hayden to tell her that everything is going to be alright and that they can survive the distance. But mostly, she wanted him to tell her that he loves her as well and always have. She continued to look at him and the pain escalated until it was unbearable but she continued to put on a brave face. Hayden continued to look at her and her pain became more prominent as he stared. Yet, something inside him prevented him from meeting Natasha at the bottom of the stairs. He wanted to hold her for their last time together but he realized that he loved her but maybe was not in love with her. Hayden had to leave at that very moment, and he looked at Natasha for the last time in this life and left in a different direction. Natasha’s heart had just been ripped out and stomped on by Hayden and yet she still stood there still hoping he would come back and say goodbye. There, it was their goodbye. She could not believe him, what had possessed him to do such a thing to her. This had caused the most pain of all, why of all people did her not say goodbye to her. Natasha had given him a chance but yet he chose not to take it and instead break her heart into a millions pieces. How could she continue to love someone one so much even after this unforgiveable act. It shows just how deep Natasha’s love for Hayden was. She did not know what to do. Natasha thought to herself whether or not to forgive him over this. If she did not it would deny her of the closest attachment she has towards Hayden but he had hurt her beyond repair. She continued to stay strong and not cry in public, as she did not want Hayden to get the better of her. Upon returning home, Natasha had only one thing upon her mind, to cry. She locked herself in her room and barely made it to her bed. She cried for every time Hayden broke her heart, every time he had told her that he loves her, every moment they shared and for the friendship they had developed. It no longer mattered at this point; Hayden was leaving her behind and barely even acknowledged her during their last time together. Tears streamed from her face as she thought about how you can love someone with all of your heart and yet they bare the ability to utterly break you. She laid across the floor as she cried over Hayden, and how nothing in this world would hurt anymore than this. Her best friend and the love of her life had deserted her in the time she has needed him the most. She continued to cry as it was the only logically thing. Natasha’s mobile had rung several times, though she ignored it as she cried over Hayden. She did not want to talk to anyone as she could not bare her new reality without him. Hayden pulled the mobile away from his ear, and thought about his careless and hurtful actions. He did not really understand him why he did not say goodbye to her. He knew that he had hurt her and was fearful about losing her. Thought, he continued to wonder about his feelings for Natasha and if she had actually loved him. He had not really ever seen Natasha as anything but a friend, she was the greatest best friend a person could have asked for. Hayden utterly adored Natasha, but was blinded to her feelings towards him. He was attracted to her and loved her in some sense. They both we well aware of their connection and great chemistry in which only existed between them two. They were always drawn to one another, though friends there was always an element of something more. But he had only viewed her as a friend. Hayden’s phone rang, it was Michael. “Hello” “Hi Michael” “Why did you do that?” “Are you referring to Natasha?” “Of course, she was distraught. I had never seen her like this.” “Honestly, I don’t know why. I just did not want to say goodbye to her. It sounds completely selfish, but I had to leave her.” “But she is your best friend; does that not matter to you?” “It does, but something inside me just would not let me do it” “Never have I seen her like this, I promised her I would not tell you this but I think its best you know now. She is absolutely crazy, madly and deeply in love with you.” Silence dawned upon them both; Hayden was totally lost for words. He felt even worse for his actions. “Hayden? You there?” “How long?” “You must be extremely stupid to have missed this; she has basically loved you since forever” “How did I miss this?” “You were too preoccupied with other girls and you failed to see what was right in front of you” “Why had you promised not to tell me? It involves me.” “She did not want to ruin your friendship and she knew that you did not reciprocate those feelings. It was difficult for her.” “She is not answering any of my calls” “Go see her” “I will, thanks. Bye” “Bye” Hayden did what was the best and went to go see her; he did not know what to say to her or what she would have to say to him. But he had to apologize for his actions and asks for her forgiveness as he could not have a life without her in it. Natasha continued to cry on her bedroom floor, she did not have the energy to do anything else. She felt like curling up into a little ball and shy away from the world at the current moment. She had even contemplated suicide to stop the pain, it hurt too much for her to bare. Natasha did not even hear the knock on her bedroom and there he was standing in front of her, Hayden. He himself had never seen Natasha in such a depressing state. He felt so much guilt for his stupid and thoughtless actions. He tried to hold her and comfort her, but she had pushed him away. Natasha could not believe that he had the nerve to come to her and expect forgiveness from her after witnessing her suffering. She did not want him to hold her, because if she did it would just deepen the wounds he has inflicted. “What do you want?” “I’m sorry Natasha, I’m so sorry babe” “Don’t call me babe; I’m not one of your girls. I never was and I doubt I ever will be” “Natasha…” “Hayden, what do you want from me? Really what do you want?” “I want you” “It hurt when you say that, it just gives me so much false hope” “Tasha, I really do need you” “God Hayden, it hurts when you say that. I’m hopelessly and madly in love with her. So don’t see those words to me when you don’t mean it like I do. Do you know how many times you have broken my heart, and yet I still yearn for you and hope that one day you will yearn for me too. Hayden, you are the only person I want in this world. I don’t want you just as my best friend. I want you all of you for me because I am so in love with you.” “I know that you are in love with me” “Did you figure it out on your own? I highly doubt you did. Did Michael tell you?” “Yeah” “I thought he would; well now you know. Just get out! You have caused me even damage for a lifetime” “Natasha, I’m here because you are my best friend and I have hurt you. Just let me by there for you now. I know I hurt you and I am so deeply sorry, it pains me as well to see you like this and to see what I have done to you.” “Hayden, I’m in love with you.” “I’m sorry Natasha” He came closer to her. He sat on the floor beside her. Natasha tried so hard to fend off, she pushed him away and she screamed for him to leave her. Though, Hayden stayed and waited for Natasha to let down her defenses. Hayden brought Natasha closer to him and held her until she had stopped crying. Though, he wondered would she ever really stop crying. “Tasha, you deserve someone better than me. Someone who absolutely adores you and loves you. You are the most caring, genuine, loving and beautiful person I have ever met. I’ll be envious of any guy you are with. Tasha, just know I love you too.” They both sat there on Natasha’s bedroom floor, Hayden continued to hold her and trying to comfort in her hour of need. He wished that he did share the feelings, but he did not. Even though it hurt, this was the only place she wanted to be, in the arms of Hayden. “You’re forgiven” Natasha crocked. “I need you Hayden, I can’t lose you. My life is not complete without you in it, even if it is being what we are and nothing more. But I need you” He placed his hand on her face and raised it to his face. He stroked her face gently in which comforted Natasha. “I need you too” he said as he stroked her gently. Hayden pulled her in closer to him and rested his head upon hers and stayed there for as long as she needed him. |
