Sometimes taking a little time out can give a new perspective.
An Ottava Rima is written in stanzas of 8 lines each. The rhyme pattern for each stanza should be: a, b, a, b, a, b, c, c. Each line should have 10 or 11 syllables.

Walking wistfully down a deserted street,
I took in the blazing beauty before me.
Wandering thoughts traveled to whom I might meet,
what sights of nature I would be blessed to see.
My skin warmed, soaking in rays of sun’s heat,
each fresh breath breaking life’s monotony.
This journey renewing me, body and soul.
Each step erasing my feelings so droll.

Serene setting lifts my spirit to praise,
surrounded by God’s miracles everywhere.
Pleasant, soothing sounds I’ve neglected for days,
awaken my senses to all that is there,
rejuvenating me in so many ways.
All at once it’s clear, perhaps the world is fair.
My short adventure a success it seems,
reminding me of grace, beauty, and dreams.
