Welcom to my window, I look out and you look in. What we will see today?
She was 50, widowed with two children who were now grown and gone. For many years her work was her passion and now that was over. She was fortunate to have a few months to reflect and take the days slow and easy. It was a time of revelation. When she looked in the mirror she saw an older woman, several lines, grey roots, faded eyes that once were bright and filled with life's wonders. She was still petite and fit and yet her body ached at times for no reason at all. What now was the question. Several spiritual books were stacked next to her bed, along with healthy living, money investments, taking control, excersize, bird feeding, gardening, yoga, staying sexual after 50 and on and on. What in the world was she to do with all this information, just when she thought she had it right, things would change, it became all so very, very tireing. One cold, snowy Minnesota morning she sat looking out the window at a simple grey squirrel, he ate the bread crumbs she had tossed for him, he took some and hid them, he played and ran and twirled about on the tree. This squirrel did all of this without one piece of advice from anyone. He survived, he thrived and he had passion for life. His world was nature and nature was his world.  He lived in the moment, the exact moment he was in. What a wonderful life he had. She pondered.......................

The economy was foremost on everyones mind, the news was blanketed with economic downturns every second of every day. Politicians took on the economy like a Mother with a new baby. Everyone had a plan that may or may not work to stimulate a stalled country. Doom, gloom and then a wisp of hope, awwww but then more doom and gloom. What was she to do with all of this news, be afraid, stressed, nervous, anxious, depressed or complacent, she just did not know. What would the squirrel do, she thinks he would survive.

She spent her days sauntering about her home that she had not really spent all that much time in over the years. This home was a place she ate, changed clothes, bathed and dressed and slept. A hotel could have provided the same accomodations. During her years in realestate she worked 50 to 70 hour weeks with little time for much else. Now she looked around at this home and really saw it for the first time. She spent her days adding some new touches to her surroundings, adding things she loved and cherished, taking time to dust off a favorite photo and place it in a perfect setting. With little expendable income she frequented second hand stores, free museums and parks. She noticed how many people were out and about in stores, in every city, in every small town, there were so many stores and each and every day they were filled with people. The big stores, the small stores, each and every store everywhere and this was just in her 20 mile radius of travel. How in the world can we the people consume so many products in such a short period of time she thought. This was incredible, we shopped for folly, that is what we the people of America do. This is something she had not really thought about throughout her life, and now what. What will she do with all of these new revelations, or does she have to do anything.
