The Waiting Game

I sit here and wait,
I wait and I wait,
My mind is in overload,
So many thoughts are rushing through it,

The thoughts are getting louder,
Echoing around the walls of my mind,
My head can’t take it,
It succumbs to the pressure,

My heart feels crushed,
Something heavy has landed on it,
Deflated it like a balloon,
Now it is empty,

Unlike my mind,
Filled with confusion,
Hurt and betrayal,
My eyes give in to the sting,

Curled up now,
I wait,
Waiting for an answer,
Was it me?

I rack my brain to find an answer,
I fail,
It’s not my question,
It’s hers.
