A Reluctant Saint
"He that shall overcome, shall thus be clothed in white garments,
and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life."(Apoc.iii:5)

After seventeen years of service to an Italian noble. Calamity
was sold for marriage to Capuchin in South Dakota America.
Capuchin's violent temper, reckless habits and passion for drink
and gambling obliged him to work as a laborer on the railroad.
Thrice she was beaten to near death by her licentious husband.
Devout to her marital vows of obedience; she endured the cruelty
          of her husband:

"I shall turn the sins of his youth from violence to gentle
                    precious merit."

Capuchin held stubbornly to his quarrelsome nature, "Go and
beg to make my bed! You beg me! I command you, for I am
your husband and you are my slave!" Calamity crawled to please
her husband and did whatever he asked:

"Mercy upon this poor creature. I beg for your charity to
                    fall upon me."

In the year 1814 their house was burned and Capuchin martyred
at the hands of Cherokee tribes. Calamity was taken as a bride
        for Watanye:

"Take this spear and strike deep or live and have children
                    aplenty."

Calamity held the spear against her naked breast, blood ran
        down to her knees:

"Will I see Jesus Christ if I take my life? Dear God I
                    want to live!"

Calamity was nineteen and had children under the gentle hand of
Watanye. She praise God for the love of her Cherokee husband:

"It is a treasure to be desired and unspeakable gladness
to the heart. My soul is humbled by the simple healing
                    love of Watanye."

Calamity put on the white buffalo skin and danced the sacred dance.
