A teenage girl struggles to remember her past.
Prologue

At this point, I didn't know where I was. I just knew to run. The only thing I knew was that I was in danger, and someone was chasing me. My feet thudded against the damp mud. I ran as fast as I could, but I felt like I was barely moving.
Suddnly, there was a sharp pain in my back, followed by a warm liquid trickling down my spine. I attempted running further, but my legs failed me and I collapsed in defeat.
"This is it," I thought. "I'm dead." My eyes began to shut and it took all of my strength to keep them open. I wasn't giving up just yet. Suddenly, I heard the heavy, sturdy steps of my "murderer" approaching to my left. To the best of my aility, I shifted and looked up at him.
At first, all I could see was the silhouette of a large object he held. When I looked harder through my blurred vision, I finally recognized who he was, and it all made sense. But before I could open my mouth to say anything, I was struck across the face and swept into unconciousness.

I abruptly opened my eyes. I let my eyes wander as I groped my thoughtless, empty head for an explanation. Where was I? And more importantly WHO was I? I started to sit up, but a searing pain above my left shoulder blade made me drop to the cold ground.
My eyes finally adjusted to the darkness. I could make out something that appeared to be a tree towering above me.
