A little poem I wrote in eighth grade.
Porcelain Heart

Hearts are made of glass;
So clear, but yet can shatter.
Crystallized in a beating mass
So fragile; made of tatter.

But fragile as they may be,
Bold and brave they boast;
To endure such pain and agony,
And still pound a rhythm at most.

Be careful when you’ve given
Your porcelain heart to another;
One mistake; a trip, a fall,
Can send your heart to clutter.

The shards will fly – the pain will die,
But only when it’s mended.
Pick up the pieces, put them together,
For such breakage was apprehended.

And you are the victim; the innocent one.
Your heart was dropped, and you came undone;
But fear not, for tender care
Can mend your porcelain.

The bejeweled gem above your chest;
Be careful when it’s slain;
It’s only pretty at its best,
Your beautifully shattered porcelain
